Wonderful drive from Lewis Hamilton last week.

Anybody going to Montreal in June? I'm keeping my eye out for flights. Just wondering how others booked their trip in the past.

We went in 2003 - it was a BLAST. The whole city is just one big party.

We booked this amazing two bedroom apartment - relatively cheap, as the hotels up their prices by about a billion-fold for race weekend. Unfortunatley, I note that the people we rented from no longer have the apartments online any more. The Metro is great for getting around, so no need for car rental.

I would defintely not book the Gold level seats that we did - we figured if they were "gold" seats, they would be awesome, but we were right on the finish line, and while we got a great view of the pits, we didn't see shit for passing - just a blur as the cars flew by the finish line. Next time, hairpin seats will be a must!

We just booked our race tickets on their own, and then booked accommodation separately.

I was considering it but the chances of going this year are getting slimmer by the day. How did you get in contact with the person that you rented the condo from? It would almost be a better value than staying in a hotel for the same price. I want to do it one of these years just never seems to work out.

We went with a old track and field buddy of mine and his (then ) wife. He booked the apartment. The website used to be ilovemontreal.com, or .net, but I see that it's not up any more. The couple that were renting the two apartments out had said they were trying to seel them. We rented one apartment for the four of us.

Yep, it's much cheaper doing it that way - hotels jack up their prices CRAZILY for race week. I seem to remember hotels like Super 8 charging $300/night, and this was in 2003
